Adeniums, better known as Desert Rose, make excellent potted plants. The swollen stems, caudex, make them excellent candidates for bonsai. Being drought-tolerant and succulent, they are easy to grow and flower freely throughout the year.

With age, they can grow to a great size, 9 feet with a spread up to 5 feet.  Care is required and protection is needed as they are tender and will not take frost or freezing conditions.

In flower, they can attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Propagated by seed, grafting, or cuttings, care is required as the sap is an irritant and poisonous if eaten.
