Prized during the Victorian age, the common Snake Plant and its numerous species and varieties make perfect house plants. They are tolerant of most soils. Here in South Florida, our alkaline soil mimics the native soils of the species.

They are best grown in full sun or bright light so the bronzing color is expressed.

Dracaenas are tolerant of cold temperatures but will freeze below 32 degrees. Some damage may occur if frost accumulates on the foliage or during a heavy freeze. They are best grown in zones 9 and 10.

Grown in containers as a succulent or in the landscape en masse, this species produces white to creamy-white flowers atop 2’ spikes. The flowers rise among the foliage in spring or early summer.
